Members of the West Virginia National Guard (WVNG) provide training on proper personal protective equipment (PPE), sanitizing and decontamination methods and best practices for the prevention of COVID-19 spread to staff at the Barboursville Veterans home April 14, 2020. Members of Task Force Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Response Enterprise (TF-CRE) will make additional visits to the facility in the coming days to train all support staff and facilitate implementing plans and procedures for how to deal with COVID-19 positive cases, if any were to arrive. Members of the West Virginia National Guard’s Task Force Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Response Enterprise (CRE) (TF-CRE) and Task Force Sustainment (TF-Sustainment), assist staff of St. Joseph Hospital, Charleston, West Virginia, to unload beds and additional medical equipment delivered to the hospital in an effort to build statewide medical surge capacity during on-going COVID-19 pandemic response, April 9, 2020. The equipment, resourced from a closed hospital in Fairmont, West Virginia, was delivered by members of the West Virginia State Police, West Virginia Division of Highways, and West Virginia Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, as part of a whole of government partnership uniting local, state and federal agencies in coordinated response efforts. This month the West Virginia National Guard Office of Family Programs underwent rigorous Army and Air Force Accreditation which, once achieved, certifies programs in accordance with the standards set by the National Guard Bureau for Family Readiness Programs across the nation for the next four years. Out of the 50 standards reviewed, the West Virginia Army National Guard received zero “NOT MET STANDARDS” and was granted first-time GO for certification under the leadership of Program Director Steve Queen and Program Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge Sgt. 1st Class Lorie Hayes.

Chaplain Corps annual sustainment training

The West Virginia National Guard’s Chaplain Corps convened for its 2025 Annual Chaplain Sustainment Training April 4-5 at the 167th Airlift Wing in Martinsburg, West Virginia.
