Mountaineer ChalleNGe Academy

Mountaineer Challenge Academy
The Mountaineer ChalleNGe Academy (MCA) helps redirect the lives of teens who have fallen behind in the traditional education system. With graduates from all 55 counties, the MCA offers a safe, secure, structured training environment for volunteer youth who strive to improve their lives, enhance their futures and who are better for having the ChalleNGe Experience.

MCA includes two campus locations (MCA North in Kingwood and MCA South in Montgomery) and the Mountaineer Jobs ChalleNGe Program for MCA graduates.

Patriot Guardens

Patriot Guardens
Patriot Guardens provides non-formal agricultural education and hands-on learning opportunities to veterans, military members and their families. This grant-funded program offers assistance and support to everyone from backyard hobbyists and start-up business owners to seasoned professional farmers.

Future Leaders Program

The Future Leaders Program’s mission is to provide West Virginia schools and students with a quality educational program with emphasis on leadership, citizenship, military science, and most importantly, life skills.

West Virginia STARBASE

The mission of West Virginia STARBASE is to raise interest and improve knowledge and skills in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) by exposing students to an exciting, dynamic, technological environment as well as positive military and civilian role models found in the WVNG. STARBASE is a congressionally authorized, DoD civil military program, 100% federally funded and administered by the West Virginia Military Authority and hosted by the West Virginia National Guard.

Economic Development Office

Economic Development Office
The WV Adjutant General’s Economic Development Office (EDO) strives to develop and maintain strategic partnerships with federal, state, and local governments and community and economic development organizations in the public and private sector, to support and compliment the vision and mission of the West Virginia National Guard. The EDO, headquartered in Charleston, has training sites at Camp Dawson (Kingwood), Kanawha Institute for Social Research & Action-KISRA (Dunbar), Recovery Point (Charleston), Mountaineer Challenge Academy-South (Montgomery), Fresh Start (Logan) and Lakin Correctional Center (Columbia).
