West Virginia National Guard reflects on World War I Centennial

115th Engineer Company gains valuable skills during annual training in Germany

Eighty-one members of the West Virginia Army National Guard’s 115th Engineer Company, from  Clarksburg, W. Va., completed a deployment to the Joint Multinational Readiness Center (JMRC) in Hohenfels, Germany, from Aug. 4-25, where they participated in Troop Construction Program (TCP) activities.

130th Operations Group Airmen prepare to be evacuated while participating in Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape (SERE) training June 2, 2018 at Alum Creek, W.Va.The Airmen completed a refresher version of the original SERE course, which is required every three years, to ensure that in case of emergency that they would have the competency to survive in numerous hostile conditions.

167th Airlift Wing serving as staging area for FEMA

The 167th Airlift Wing, West Virginia Air National Guard, is serving as a staging area for the Federal Emergency Management Agency ahead of Hurricane Florence’s expected impact along the east coast this week. About 70 trailers full of food, water, blankets, cots, tents and fuel will be on stand-by, ready to mobilize as needed from the Martinsburg, W.Va. base. Tractor-trailers brought in the supplies from FEMA warehouses in Cumberland, Md. and Frederick, Md. Airmen assigned to the 167th AW worked with full-time FEMA employees, FEMA reserve employees and members of FEMA Corp to organize the staging area.
