MARTINSBURG, W.Va. –
Technical Sgt. Christopher Dunn is a command and control operations specialist for the 167th Airlift Wing and the 167th AW Airman Spotlight for June 2021.
“Tech. Sgt. Dunn is a great asset to the command post, wing headquarters and the 167th AW,” said Senior Master Sgt. Eric Swartz, 167th AW command post superintendent.
The base command post is the central command point for mission operations. As a command post specialist, Dunn ensures operations and communications run efficiently and effectively under any circumstance.
“Tech. Sgt. Dunn is definitely a go-to troop, he will always volunteer to come in early, stay late, swap shifts, and work weekends,” Swartz said. “Tech. Sgt. Dunn readily takes on new assignments. He volunteered to be the command post systems non-commissioned officer in charge and alternate training manager.”
As the command post systems NCOIC, Dunn was responsible for the recent installation and training of the wing’s new mass notification system.

How does your job support the 167th’s mission: As a Command Post controller it is my job to help coordinate with aircraft and their support agencies to ensure mission success. As the NCOIC of command and control systems it is my responsibility to maintain command post equipment and mass notification systems to include Giant Voice and AtHoc, to ensure timely notifications of emergencies to wing personnel.
Civilian job: employed as an Active Guard and Reserve member of the 167th AW in the command post
Hobbies: Riding motorcycles and an avid reader
I am proudest of: My family. My wife and son. I am continually proud and grateful to have them in my life.
The best thing about working with my team is: The team we have in the CP is top notch and as the newest member of the team, they have always gone out of their way to help me get up to speed. We have an awesome combination of personalities that all work together well, working out of a windowless room the size of a big walk-in closet.
