W.Va. Guard hosts Army National Guard Director visit to FWAATS

Lt. Gen. Jon A. Jensen, director of the Army National Guard, paid a visit to the Fixed Wing Army National Guard Aviation Training Site (FWAATS) located in Bridgeport, West Virginia, March 3, 2023. Jensen received an informational briefing and tour of the facility and visited with staff and students. FWAATS is the only ARNG training site that provides Army aviator (Active Duty, Reserve and National Guard) fixed wing training instruction. Since 1992, FWAATS has trained more than 2,900 Soldiers in the operation of Army standard and non-standard fixed wing aircraft and has on three occasions been certified as a "Learning Institution of Excellence." W.Va. Guard Retires RC-26 Aircraft From Service
January 19, 2023
Pilots and crew from the West Virginia National Guard’s Counter Drug Program manned the final retirement flight of RC-26 Condor 94-0260, ending a distinguished career of service to the Mountain State and the nation January 6, 2023, in Bridgeport, West Virginia. The Condor is a twin turboprop surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft that performed a multitude of important roles including domestic counter drug missions, warzone counter-insurgency flights overseas, domestic homeland security missions, and disaster relief efforts both at home and abroad. All 11 RC-26 aircraft previously operated by the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard are now at their final resting place, the boneyard at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona.
