We are so excited to send you the 2025 WVNG Kids Kamp/Camp Conley applications! Our 2025 program theme from NGB this year is “National Guard Kids: Your Adventure Starts Here!” and let me say this camp is most certainly an adventure! The schedule looks amazing, and we have so much fun packed into it including camp traditions such as firing ranges, EST, static displays, high line, fishing, swimming, rappel tower, drill & ceremony, and camp dance! We have some amazing end-of-camp plans underway, but it will be hard to top the carnival last year. We are surely going to try our best! Don’t miss out, register today.

As a recap:
• Dates: 22-27 June 2025
• Location: Camp Dawson, Kingwood WV
• For who: Military dependents ages 9-14, TagAlongs ages 5-8
• Cost:
o Campers, ages 9-14: $100 if registered between now and 1 April. Late registration goes from 2 April to 15 May and will be $125.00
o TagALongs, ages 5-8: $75.00 if registered between now and 1 April. Late registration goes from 2 April to 15 May and will be $100.00
o Youth Volunteers, ages 16-17: $50.00, registration deadline, 15 May.
o Adult Volunteers, ages 18 $ up: $50.00, due to background checks, registration deadline, 1 May.

Doha, Qatar home of West Virginia Guard's 2025 Best Warrior Competition

National Service Academy cadets walk down the path during the Best Warrior Competition's ruck event at the National Service Academy in Umm Salal Muhammed, Qatar, Feb. 3, 2025. The West Virginia Army National Guard is hosting its annual Best Warrior Competition in partnership with Qatar Armed Forces from Feb. 2-5, 2025, at the National Service Academy in Doha, Qatar. This year’s competition is the first to be hosted jointly with a partner nation outside the continental United States, and the first time that partner nation’s military members have competed alongside U.S. service members. The competition features a multitude of core competencies ranging from the Army Combat Fitness Test and weapons lanes; to a foot march and detailed individual warrior tasks and battle drills. The West Virginia National Guard and Qatar Armed Forces partnered in 2018 through the State Partnership Program, the National Guard’s flagship international affairs and security cooperation initiative. Years of combined training and development of enduring relationships between the militaries has led to this event, meant to foster more capable and interoperable partners and pursue shared objectives. Chaplain (Maj.) Justin Elliott represented the West Virginia National Guard at the Africa Chaplains Summit, hosted by U.S. Africa Command in Brussels, Belgium, on Jan. 24-28, 2025. The summit aimed to strengthen relationships, exchange best practices and enhance engagement through the National Guard Bureau’s State Partnership Program by bringing together military chaplains from partner nations.

Competitors participate in the 12 mile ruck march event during the 2022 National Guard Bureau Region 2 Best Warrior Competition, held May 17-20, 2022, at Camp Dawson, Kingwood, West Virginia. The Best Warrior Competition is a physically and mentally challenging three-day competition that tests competitors on a wide range of technical and tactical skills relevant to today’s combat operating environment. Region 2 consists of competitors from Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. WV Soldiers celebrate Christmas in Kosovo; joined by Kosovo President, US Ambassador, KFOR Commander

West Virginia National Guard Soldiers assigned to Regional Command East of the NATO-led Kosovo Force mission celebrated Christmas Eve at Camp Bondsteel with a holiday meal and remarks by President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu, Ambassador of the United States to The Republic of Kosovo Jeffrey Hovenier and Kosovo Force Commander Maj. Gen. Enrico Barduani. The distinguished visitors thanked the soldiers for their service and recognized the sacrifice they are making by being deployed during the holiday season. KFOR continues to implement its mandate - based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999 - to contribute a safe and secure environment for all people and communities living in Kosovo and freedom of movement, at all times and impartially. KFOR works in close coordination with the Kosovo Police and EULEX (the European Union Mission on Rule of Law) in their respective roles as security responders. (U.S. Army National Guard photo by Sgt. Enlistment Spotlight Nov 2023

Enlistment Spotlight Yesterday was quite the special day at Buffalo High School in Putnam County, as an oath of enlistment into the WV Army National Guard took place right on campus. Andrew Warner, a senior at Buffalo was sworn into the Guard where he will attend training this coming summer following his high school graduation. Making the moment even more special, Private Warner was sworn in by 2nd Lieutenant Greysen Young. 2LT Young is also a graduate of Buffalo High School and a family friend of Andrew. Congratulations and welcome to our team, Private Warner!
