An Airman assigned to the West Virginia National Guard’s Task Force provides a COVID-19 test to a local citizen on May 22, 2020 in Charleston, W.Va. The WVNG's Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE) Battalion, the 35th Civil Support Team (CST), and the 35th Enhanced Response Force Package (CERFP), which make up Task Force CRE, and Task Force Medical personnel are highly trained in operating in a "contaminated environment" and have conducted more than 3,000 tests for COVID-19 in 87 lane support missions since the beginning of our response 70 days ago. Wilson is part of the West Virginia National Guards Task Force Innovation which is producing protective face coverings as part of the COVID-19 response efforts. Wilson taught herself how to sew by watching online videos so she could sew masks for the task force.

West Virginia National Guard Airmen and Soldiers put the finishing pieces, including filters and head straps, on N-95 face masks cast from molded silicone at the 167th Airlift Wing, April 30, 2020. The Guardsmen are part of Task Force Innovation and have produced well over 1,500 masks. The masks were designed by Shepherd University staff after a shortage of off-the-shelf masks due to COVID-19. The mask’s designers provided the molds and training to the Guardsmen to enable to mask production.
