The National Guard – Ridge Runner (RR) program, operated by the West Virginia National Guard, is a platform for Irregular Warfare training that allows National Guard Special Operations Forces Commanders to train and validate SOF elements prior to mobilization as part of the required Certification, Verification, and Validation process. RR incorporates SOF elements, such as Army Special Forces, Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations along with Conventional Forces, allies, and partner nation’s (PNs) SOF, territorial defense forces, and other U.S. organizations and agencies into the exercises to replicate theater IW operations and provide the most realistic pre-mission training possible.
