Deployed and documenting: West Virginia’s 153rd PAD supports multinational mission in Kosovo
June 10, 2025 — Four Soldiers from the West Virginia Army National Guard’s 153rd Public Affairs Detachment are currently deployed to Kosovo in support of the NATO-led Kosovo Force (KFOR) mission. The unit has documented more than 200 missions, capturing the efforts of multinational forces through photos, videos and written stories that showcase patrols, training exercises and readiness activities. The 153rd PAD’s work has included coverage of high-level command visits, coordination with Kosovo Police and Security Forces, and public affairs support during a suspected terrorist attack in northern Kosovo. 157th Military Police Company Receives Brief on Upcoming Deployment

Soldiers assigned to the 157th Military Policy Company, 771st Troop Command Battalion, West Virginia Army National Guard, receive a briefing from Lt. Col. Ryan Kaufman and Command Sgt. Maj. Kendall Struxness at the Moorefield Armory, in Moorefield West Virginia on August 3, 2024. Kaufman and Struxness will serve as the command team for the 142nd Engineer Battalion’s forward element, and the 157th Military Police Company’s higher command echelon during their upcoming deployment. Kaufman and Struxness gave a personal introduction of themselves, and briefed the unit on the mission requirements and expectations.
