Approximately 200 Colorado National Guard Soldiers and Airmen train at the North Metro Fire Training Center in Thornton, Colorado, September 17-20, 2018, in preparation for a National Guard Bureau evaluation. The Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear, Enhanced Response Force Package is evaluated every two years to ensure that they meet standards and are prepared to support incidents within Colorado or elsewhere in the U.S. The Colorado teams are comprised of members from the 140th Wing from Buckley Air Force Base, Aurora, the 233d Space Group from Greeley, Colorado, the 147th Brigade Support Battalion from Ft. Collins, Colorado, and the 3650th Maintenance Company from Longmont, Colorado. Each team combines to provide the necessary functionality to assist local authorities in extraction, communication, decontamination, and medical triage so that victims can be safely removed from a mass casualty event and cared for appropriately.
