Soldier Spotlight: Lt. Col. Jason Diaz

By By Edwin Wriston, West Virginia National Guard Public Affairs Office West Virginia National Guard Public Affairs

Today we are highlighting West Virginia Army National Guard Lt. Col. Jason Diaz, an armor officer with the 1st Squadron, 150th Cavalry Regiment.

Diaz has been in the West Virginia National Guard since 2002 and decided to join because he “wanted to be a part of something that made a difference. I liked the camaraderie that you see in the military and it seemed like an organization that took care of its people.”

According to Diaz, his favorite part of serving is the people he serves with.

“The military is full of incredible Soldiers that are experts at their job and that go above and beyond what is expected,” he said. “As a leader, it’s those individuals you encounter throughout your career that help you grow and succeed. You build a bond with the people you serve with that is like no other. It’s truly hard to describe to those that don’t serve what that bond is like.”
