Spotlight on Sgt. Katie Lynn Mollohan: A Dedicated Logistician and Advocate

By Erica Bodker West Virginia National Guard

The West Virginia National Guard spotlight for Sept. 1, 2024, is Sgt. Katie Lynn Mollohan from St. Albans, West Virginia. Mollohan has served in the West Virginia Army National Guard for four years. She is currently stationed at Joint Forces Headquarters as a 92Y unit supply specialist. Mollohan supervises and performs supply management tasks, including request, receipt, storage, issue, and accountability of supplies and equipment. She coordinates supply activities, reviews unit material condition status reports, and manages supply transactions.

Mollohan has worked as a production controller, dispatcher for the Guard’s Task Force Sustainment and as a full-time technician with the Combined Support Maintenance Shop. She has more than four years of logistics experience. She is currently working on a Regents Bachelor of Arts degree.

Outside of the Guard, Mollohan enjoys kayaking, hiking, traveling, and photography. One of her personal goals is to focus on creating a fulfilling life for her children and positively influencing their lives. Professionally, she aims to become an expert in logistics and quartermaster roles and plans to continue her education and training within the Guard.

Mollohan joined the military primarily for the educational benefits and to secure a better future for her family. Her father’s service in the National Guard and the Marines inspired her to follow in his footsteps. She values the sense of family within the WVARNG and has cherished the connections and knowledge gained through her service. One of her favorite moments in the Guard was being pinned to E-5 by her father this past summer.

She appreciates the opportunities being in the Guard has provided and believes that the Army values instilled in Soldiers positively impact all aspects of their lives. Mollohan’s advice to prospective enlistees is to take the leap and join, highlighting how the WVARNG has enhanced her life and offered pathways to personal and professional success.
