WVNG Hosts Pre-deployment Yellow Ribbon Event for 863rd MP Co. and 153rd PAD

The West Virginia National Guard hosted a pre-deployment Yellow Ribbon event for the 863rd Military Police Co. and 153rd Public Affairs Det. on July 12, 2024, in Glen Jean, West Virginia.

A pre-deployment Yellow Ribbon event happens before Soldiers or units leave for a, overseas mobilization rotation. This event gives deploying service members and families resources in preparation for deployment. The mission of the Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program is to promote the well-being of National Guard and Reserve members, their families and communities by connecting them with resources throughout the deployment cycle. The WVNG YRRP is overseen by Family Programs and had resource services and professionals from groups including Child and Youth Services, Tricare, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, the Chaplain's office, legal and finance.

Army leaders spoke, including West Virginia Army National Guard Commander Brig. Gen. Gene Holt, Command Sgt. Maj. Chadwick Moneypenny and Chief of Staff Col. Robert Kincaid.

Soldiers and Airmen from the West Virginia and District of Columbia National Guard compete in the West Virginia National Guard Best Warrior Competition held April 19-21, 2024, at Camp Dawson in Kingwood, West Virginia. Best Warrior is an annual event where participants compete in a series of warrior training tasks including weapons proficiency on the M4 rifle, 9mm pistol, land navigation, physical fitness, combat first aid, tactical movements, communications, and professional development activities.
