CHARLESTON, WV –
Chief Warrant Officer 4 Jeremy Allio has almost 23 years of service in the West Virginia Army National Guard (WVARNG) and was chosen as a Soldier Spotlight in 2024. Allio has moved through the ranks from a 92G culinary specialist in Bravo Battery, 1/201st Field Artillery Battalion, to food operations sergeant in 1201st Forward Support Company to the 111th Engineer Brigade’s food advisor before being promoted to the WVARNG’s advisor to the staff elements on issues related to Food Service across the organization.
Allio, a Morgantown resident from Elkins, W.Va., is now a 922A Food Service Technician as a warrant officer. He uses his experience and knowledge to minimize the impact of food service issues to Soldiers training and the Guard’s operations.
“I think my years of experience in the job, as well as my experience in my civilian job, help bring a unique perspective to some of the challenges I encounter in the WVARNG,” Allio said. “I think every part of the greatest fighting force in the world is important. What I do is a small piece that contributes to the overall success of the organization.”
While some of his fondest memories are from his deployment to Iraq in 2004 with the 1/201st FA BN, a competition is on the top of his list.
“One of my favorite experiences was competing in the Philip A. Connelly (Excellence in Army Food Service competition) as the Food Operations Sergeant with the 1201st FSC,” Allio said. That year, 2010, the 1201st FSC won the U.S. Army National Guard competition.
“The thing I like best about the WVNG is how the organization goes above and beyond to take care of the people,” said Allio.
When asked about the best day of his life, Allio said:
“Obviously, the only right answer is enlisting in the WVARNG. But seriously, I don’t have just one. My top three days are when I married my wife, Rachel, and the birth of our two children, Isaac and Vivian.”
“I am very thankful for the opportunities the WVNG has afforded me and my family,” Allio said. For anyone thinking about joining the Guard, Allio says don’t wait. Do it as soon as possible. There are endless opportunities once you get into the organization, he explained. And absolutely take advantage of Tricar, a great benefit for M-Day Soldiers.
Allio enjoys spending time with family and attending athletic events at his alma mater West Virginia University. Allio likes traveling and one of his goals is to travel more with his family and expose his kids to diverse cultures.
“What I like best about the WVARNG is the opportunity to support our communities and our country, while serving with a fantastic group of people,” he said.
