Sallie Pat Tackett, wife of MG (RET) Allen Tackett, passes

West Virginia National Guard

A message from Maj. Gen. James Hoyer, The Adjutant General, West Virginia National Guard:

On behalf of all members of the West Virginia National Guard, our thoughts and prayers are with the Tackett Family, and we offer our condolences on the passing this morning of Sallie Pat Tackett, wife of Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Allen Tackett, former Adjutant General of the WVNG.

Sallie Pat served the WVNG for many years and was a pillar of strength to the force, placing an emphasis on the importance of family members and their role in the success and strength of our Guard.

In honor of her strength and loyalty, the family readiness building at Joint Forces Headquarters in Charleston, W.Va., bears the name Maj. Gen. Allen E. & Sallie Pat Tackett Family Readiness Center.

Sallie Pat’s dedication to the WVNG and our families will be greatly missed.

Amy and I and all of our West Virginia National Guard family have the Tackett family in our thoughts and prayers.

A message from Gov. Jim Justice:

Cathy and I are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Sallie Pat Tackett.

I know that she was an outstanding West Virginian, an incredible educator, and an absolute inspiration to so many in our National Guard. Just like her husband, our former Adjutant General Allen Tackett, Sallie Pat was an incredible servant to our state and our nation.

Cathy and I ask all West Virginians to join us in sending our sincere condolences and our prayers to Maj. Gen. Tackett and the entire Tackett family.
