CHARLESTON, W.Va. –
Over the past two weeks, contractors with the West Virginia RISE program have completed nine additional projects, bringing the total number of completed homes to 198. Eight reconstruction projects were completed in Greenbrier, Clay, Fayette, Kanawha, and Nicholas Counties and one mobile home unit was completed in Lincoln County.
There are currently 41 homes in active construction through four different contractors in the housing program. Of the 41 homes in active construction, two are mobile home replacements, 38 are reconstruction projects, and one is a rehabilitation project.
There are 203 active cases covered under the RISE West Virginia Program. The current breakdown by construction type is as follows: 198 homes are complete, 156 cases require total reconstruction, four cases require some form of rehabilitation actions, 42 cases require new mobile home replacement and one is undergoing the initial intake process.
The Clearance and Demolition program case completion remains at eight total projects. At this time, there are 261 projects in the active case management process and 71 of those projects are in environmental review process. The Clearance and Demolition program is still accepting applications in all counties affected by the 2016 flood.
VOAD crews recently completed work on the 18th bridge home project and are working on completion of the 19th and 20th projects.
