West Virginia Adjutant General’s update on RISE West Virginia case management

By Maj. Holli Nelson West Virginia National Guard Public Affairs

West Virginia National Guard's Adjutant General, Maj. Gen. James Hoyer, issues the following update on RISE West Virginia's case management status:

Work on the interior of the stick built project in Kanawha County is wrapping up this week as crews are completing finish work on the interior of the home. It is estimated that this project will be complete, weather permitting, next week and ready for a final inspection by the West Virginia National Guard’s Quality Assurance/Quality Control team.

At this time, there are 44 other mobile home unit and reconstruction projects are at varying points in the construction process in the RISE West Virginia program in Clay, Greenbrier, Nicholas, Kanawha and Webster Counties. Additionally, 10 more projects will move into the construction phase next week as notices to proceed were submitted this week.

The number of completed cases remains at 47 this week. The number of outstanding homeowner cases has risen to 421 as new cases have come into the program through the intake process and rental property cases are now included. A breakdown of the nature of those cases is as follows: 203 cases require total reconstruction, 114 cases require some form of rehabilitation, and 104 cases require new mobile home unit replacement.

Recently conducted initial site surveys by the WVNG QA/QC team have revealed that some cases within the RISE West Virginia system should be moved from one category to another to best suit the needs of the individual case. This has resulted in the shifting of some cases from rehabilitation, to reconstruction or a new mobile home unit replacement.

Any families who feel they still have any unmet needs or who are looking for an update on their case are urged to contact the new VOAD office over the phone at 304-553-0927 or through email at DisasterRecovery@wv.gov. A hotline is also available for anyone needing to report fraud with regard to the RISE West Virginia program at 1-866-WVWATCH (1-866-989-2824).
