West Virginia Guard, DHSEM assisting in Raleigh Co. search for missing individuals

The West Virginia National Guard, through coordination with the West Virginia Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, is providing a team of six Soldiers and three humvees to assist the West Virginia Office of Miners’ Health, Safety and Training (MHS&T) in search efforts for four missing individuals in Raleigh County.

 

The Soldiers, who are assigned to the 1st Squadron, 150th Cavalry Regiment out of Beckley, will provide support to MHS&T personnel conducting the search by assisting with equipment and personnel movement from the staging area to the mine entrance.

 

No other requests for support from the West Virginia National Guard have been made at this time. The West Virginia State Emergency Operations Center, managed jointly by the West Virginia Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management and the West Virginia National Guard, will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
