Army Sgt. Richard Carlson, a combat medic with the Minnesota Army National Guard’s Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 1st Battalion, 94th Cavalry Regiment, brings down an opponent as part of the Valor Run event during the 2022 Army National Guard Best Warrior Competition, Volunteer Training Site-Tullahoma, Tennessee, July 28. The competition spans five physically and mentally demanding days as 14 competitors vie to be named the Army National Guard’s Soldier and Noncommissioned Officer of the Year. The winners will go on to represent the Army Guard in the Department of the Army Best Warrior Competition later this year.
