Q. What can I do to protect myself from COVID-19?
Take everyday preventive actions to stay healthy.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
- Follow public health advice regarding school closures, avoiding crowds, and other social distancing measures.
- Stay informed. CDC's COVID-19 Situation Summary will be updated as information becomes available.
Q. What to do if you are sick?
Stay home except to get medical care: People who are mildly ill with COVID-19 can isolate at home during their illness. You should restrict activities outside your home, except for getting medical care.
Call your doctor: If you think you have been exposed to COVID-19 and develop a fever and symptoms of respiratory illness, such as cough or difficulty breathing, call your healthcare provider immediately and tell them that you may have COVID-19.
Wear a face-mask when sick: Put on a face-mask before you enter the facility. These steps will help the healthcare provider's office to keep other people in the office or waiting room from getting infected or exposed.
Alert health department: Ask your healthcare provider to call the local or state health department (see a list of local health departments here). Persons who are placed under active monitoring or facilitated self-monitoring should follow instructions provided by their local health department or occupational health professionals, as appropriate.
Call 911 if you have a medical emergency: If you have a medical emergency and need to call 911, notify the dispatch personnel that you have, or are being evaluated for COVID-19. If possible, put on a face-mask before emergency medical services arrive.
Q. Do members have the option to telework?
We are encouraging non-essential personnel to work from home at this time. Those who are required to come in are tested to ensure they are well enough to work.
Q. Who is most at risk of coronavirus?
This is a rapidly evolving situation, and the risk assessment may change daily. The latest updates are available on CDC's Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) website.
Q. What is the recovery time for the coronavirus disease?
Using available preliminary data, the median time from onset to clinical recovery for mild cases is approximately two weeks and is 3-6 weeks for patients with severe or critical disease.
Q. Will we have IDT/UTA?
Across the West Virginia Army and Air National Guard, all IDT/UTA trainingd are being held. Please check with your command related to each month's drill schedule.
Q. What would happen if I need an I.D. Card?
The I.D. Card section will make cards by appointment, only in emergencies. You can call the 130th Airlift Wing at 304-341-6279 or the 167th Airlift Wing at 304-616-5295.
