What are dietitians? Do I need dietitian services? Should I contact my state dietitian?

What are dietitians?

A licensed dietitian/nutritionist has attended an accredited university meaning it maintains accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics, has obtained a bachelor of science, completed an accredited supervised dietetic internship, passed the Commission on Dietetic Registration exam, obtained licensure in state of practice and maintained continuing education in order to maintain registration.

I have a Bachelors and Masters of Science in Dietetics, have completed 1,200 hours of a supervised internship practice, am registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration board and licensed in the state of West Virginia.

My role as a dietitian is to promote health with tailored nutrition interventions for individuals to prevent or manage diseases and maintain wellness. Furthermore, I advise individuals on what to eat in order to lead a healthy lifestyle or achieve a specific health-related goal.

Do I need dietitian services?

Are you currently flagged for height/weight?

I can help with individual or group counseling for nutrition related issues/concerns, fad diets, disordered eating, weight loss, maintenance or gain.

I assess individual nutrition status which includes an assessment of height and weight, lab values if available/pertinent, and targeted behavior modification for individual’s health and wellness goals.

Do you struggle with your APFT, want to improve results or recover faster? I am always available to discuss individualized plans and goals.
