Civilian job: Co-owner, Kinder Haus Child Care Center, Inc., Morgantown, WV
How long have you served in the WVARNG: 12 Years; 19 years total including active. I reenlisted when I was 45 after a break in service of almost 22 years.
Education: Associates from Marshall University, Bachelor’s from WVU, Masters in Business Administration from WVU.
Hobbies: Lying about fishing; cycling; detailed masonry work; intarsia (an intricate type of woodworking).
Goals (military or civilian): To work with male victims of child sexual assault/abuse; public speaking; maybe a PhD; becoming a life coach; to teach as a part-time adjunct professor at an institution like Fairmont State University.
I am proudest of: Seeing the relief on another man’s face when he is able to share for the first time an incident of abuse.
The best day of my life: Marrying my wife and best friend.
Favorite moment in the WVNG: When I gave my first SAPR training, I used myself as an example and told the class what happened to me when I was a kid. When I finished everybody applauded, which I didn’t expect.
What do you like best about the WVNG: The myriad opportunities for career broadening; all you have to do is look, ask, and volunteer.
