WVARNG Soldier Spotlight November 2018

By Capt. Holli Nelson West Virginia National Guard Public Affairs

Congratulations to our West Virginia National Guard Soldier Spotlight, Cpl. Timothy Martin. Martin is a military police officer with the 154th Military Police Company where he enforces military laws and regulations and protects lives and property on Army installations.

When not serving part-time in the West Virginia National Guard, Martin, a Bellaire, Ohio native, serves as an investigative analyst for the Federal Bureau of Investigations. In his free time from work, he enjoys hiking the Appalachian Trail mountains and long-distance running.

Martin is most proud of his work for the non-profit Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Foundation, where he’s raise more than $20,000 to help develop high school sophomores by teaching them how to think, not what to think, he said.

He recalls the best day of his life was earlier in October of 2018, when he and his sister joined his father to run the 34th annual Army 10-miler.

“When I get to congratulate my Soldiers on their promotions due to their hard work and dedication to the Guard, our unit and our Nation, those are my favorite moments,” Martin said.

Martin enjoys the endless opportunities to grow in the National Guard, he said. “There are countless courses and classes available to help develop my career in my military occupational specialty and with my leadership skills. It is thanks to my chain of command and military parents that I have developed the skills I have today and achieved many of my goals.”

His future goals include getting accepted into the Inter-service Physician Assistant Program and to achieve the same rank as his father, a now retired lieutenant colonel.
